At Katie’s memorial mass we all realized that one life–no matter its duration-- impacts so many others. It was a standing-room-only event she richly deserved, because for Katie, her family was never limited to blood relations. She knew the individuals who loved and integrated her into their lives, and she wholeheartedly returned the compliment. It is obvious to us now that so many of Katie’s friends were like family and vice-versa. After all we choose our friends. So we wanted everyone to have a place to share some of their thoughts about her in writing. Katie was so much more than her tragic fate. We have to remember and celebrate her for who she was.
