As
Katie’s grandfather, I spent time with her, one on one,
playing horse in basketball and kicking the soccer ball around
in the back yard. This was a most enjoyable experience for me.
As grandfather
and grandmother, we enjoyed her participation in stage performances.
Her part in the Nutcracker and Cinderella with her mother
were special memories that we will cherish forever.
Katie and
Nina spent several summers visiting with us for at least one
week at a time. On more than one occasion they brought friends
from Dallas to spend time with us in our home. At these times
we were able to enjoy their involvement with their cousins
and Katie amused herself by drawing and creating pieces of
art for our enjoyment and other members of her family.
At
times it became necessary for us to baby-sit Nina and Katie
in Dallas. These periods of time were enjoyable and afforded
us the opportunity to interact with them and their friends.
Katie made sure we were kept amused during these times by
playing the piano and performing numerous song and dance routines
with her friends and Nina.
Katie's
childhood was an eventful, joyous learning experience full
of a diversity of activities. The picture of her represents
a cheerful likeness of a young girl who was willing to participate
in the day to day events of life lived as it ought to be lived.
These are just a few of the memories we have of a bright,
vibrant, loving granddaughter. She will live in our hearts
forever.
